Job Description:
Olive Branch Baptist Church is seeking God’s man for the position of Associate Pastor for Family Ministry. Applicants should have a Master’s degree from an accredited Southern Baptist Seminary, possess a minimum of 5 years’ effective vocational ministry, and affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.   
 
Responsibilities:
The Associate Pastor for Family Ministry is responsible for strategizing, overseeing and managing the family-based ministries of Olive Branch Baptist Church, including directing the activities of children’s/student ministry interns, volunteers and church-based staff, ensuring a balanced, healthy discipleship process for families with children from nursery to young adult.  Core ministry responsibilities include the following:
  • Develop and promote a comprehensive program of religious education for young adult families and their children and youth.
  • Work closely with adult discipleship leaders overseeing training that leads parents into a biblical study to help them understand their roles and responsibilities as parents to lead their children.
  • Work with ministry leaders to bridge the gap between what adults are learning in their programs and what their children and youth are learning in their respective programs.
  • Coach parents and children privately on specific issues in their family.
  • Plan and coordinate special projects and activities for young families and their children, including vacation bible school, mission trips, youth rallies, outings, outreach, mission projects and/or summer programs.
  • Provide training, resources and instruction for ministry leaders and volunteers within the family ministries, children’s and youth programs.
  • Maintain relationships and frequent communications with families of children and youth to further develop the family ministry and identify and determine where the greatest needs exist.
  • Participate weekly in community and/or school-based activities involving the children and youth of the church.
  • Ensure each ministry program under the Associate Pastor’s domain is appropriately staffed with ministry leaders who are motivated, equipped and capable of connecting regularly and relationally with those under their span of care.
  • Fill in for teachers or Lead Pastor, as needed; provide pulpit supply, as requested.
  • Help build a discipling culture among children, youth, parents and leaders.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Southern Baptist Seminary education program.
  • Minimum of five years of effective vocational ministry.

Qualifications:

  • A willingness to partner with the Lead Pastor to plan a coordinated discipleship program for all age groups.
  • A willingness and ability to plan meaningful worship and small group experiences for young adult families, and their children and youth.
  • Show evidence of passion for family ministry, prior effective ministry leadership, and active and growing discipleship.
  • Strong demonstration of personal faith, regular practice of spiritual discipline, desire to grow people in their knowledge and relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A person of integrity who has a good reputation with those inside and outside of the church.
  • A heart of humility and servanthood.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and conflict-management skills.
  • Technologically literate, demonstrating an aptitude and comfort with using social media, the church website, video announcements, and texting to effectively communicate with families of the church.
  • Must pass a full background check (credit and criminal).
